Two days after Christmas 2012...snow storm!

Well Hello There,

It's the post-Christmas snow storm. It started last night and continued into this morning and a bit sporadically through out the day. I shoveled about 10 inches this morning to just leave my front door of my apartment. It was beautiful and I just really enjoyed the beauty of it all. As I was shoveling out my car also, that was an adventure in it's own right, I noticed someone who was shoveling out their car from a side road at my complex. I wasn't sure if they needed help, so I kept at my clearing out of my car. When I was done, they were still trying to get their car unstuck, so I went over and lent a hand. It was the least I could do. After several minutes we finally got a chunk of wood under the one tire that was spinning and got the car unstuck. That was an adventure also.

Driving to work was slow and steady at about 50-55 miles an hour. I was apparently braver, or crazier, than others, because I kept passing people. I just kept driving straight and just kept passing everyone. It was a safe drive the whole way. Now I'm just looking forward to getting done with work so I can go home and spend time with my family.

Christmas was wonderful as we got to spend time with my Grandma and a friend of the family.

Recently my family has taken the time to make some goals.  To setup some dreams for our life.  They are not too ambitious, but considering the economy they are ones that we need to have some patience with.  If my job situation changes then that will make a big difference in making these goals come closer to being reality.  In the mean time I have some goals or dreams that I hope to work toward.


I want to become a better Hammer Dulcimer player so that I can play for others enjoyment and possibly to make a small amount of money on the side.  I also repair computers on the side.  That makes me a little bit of money, but that is few and far between.  I am not expecting to become a pro Dulcimer player and do that for a living.  I wouldn't even know where to begin for that.  I just want to be better at playing so I can play for others and have them enjoy the music.  Sometimes I want to open a computer repair and sales shop too.  I don't have the time or the money to do that either.  Most important to me is to have a place of our own.  A place that my wife and son can call our very own.


I think it is very important that people have dreams, goals, wants.  It makes for an interesting life.  It makes for a life that is not boring, hum drum, stagnant.  Everyone needs to have something to shoot for.  A target that they can reach for.  Not something outside their grasp, but within their reach.  Something that makes them grow, stretch, make a mistake or two and in the end achieve something they did not realize was possible.  So I think the two quotes I put at the beginning are rather appropriate.


To all you out there just living and getting by, Get up and Try something.  Figure out something you want, don't hurry, just sit back and see what you can figure out, but figure something out and go for it.  While playing the Dulcimer I find some things don't work and I keep trying until I find something that does work.  Life is full of trial and error, don't give up or give in.  Keep trying and keep moving forward.

Here stands a new week.

Right in front of you stands a new week.  It either starts on Monday or Sunday, take your pick.  Either way it is a new week and the questions stands....What are you going to do with it?  We are only guaranteed the moment, not the whole day, not the whole week or the whole month or even the whole year.  We have the moment we are in.  So what do you do with the week?  What do you do with the moment or the day?

Do you let it go by?  Do you plan something interesting?  Do you make new decisions?  Do you pray about your week?  Do you do anything about your week or day or moment?

Some of us live in the moment and a day at a time.  Some of us obsess about the future or the past trying not to repeat past mistakes or trying to make each day better and planning so far into the future they are overwhelmed. Others still move about with not ambition at all.

I want to speak from experience and from a friends point of view.  We both have this strange feeling inside of us.  It calls us to do more.  It calls us to strive to better ourselves.  Sometimes that means living in the moment and making the most out of that time.  Other times is calls for planning a little ahead of ourselves.  Where do fit in?  I want to do more.  I want to grow and change.  So does my friend.  My friend is planning to take some classes and I plan on learning more about what I want to do or what I should be doing.  I am going to take my time, enjoy each day and what it has to bring and I am going to continue to change and grow.

I want to become and I want to be.

What do you want?

Who do you want to become? (I mean your person.  What kind of a person do you want to become.)

Think about it, pray about it.  Let that be a moving factor in your life.  Let God be a part of it and follow your heart.  Be and Become.  Do and Act.  Live and Grow.

This is your day, moment, your week, month and year.  Make of it what you can and what you want.  Take advantage of the moment and Carpe Diem....Seize the day!  Enjoy and Live Life it is he best thing you can do for yourself and for others.

Now that is some sound advice if ever I heard some.  I think we seriously hamper our lives to much when we try to be someone we are not or say things we don't say.  I think more people would be happier following this advice.

I want to live life more abundantly and enjoy it too.

A Father's Son

Some people have great ideas or revelations in the shower.  Others have them while driving to work.  Still others have them on a walk or even just any old time of the day or at any moment.  I am of the last sort.  I never know when a great thought will hit me.  That is how this one came to be.

I recently had to remind myself that I am my fathers child.  Dementia has taken who he was away some what.  Sometimes I see the old him, but most of the time he is somewhat different then he was.  So recently I have been reminded of the times in my life where my father really stood out for me.  He would play catch even though I would throw so hard it hurt his hand.  Good thing he had a glove on.  He would take walks with me to the local McD's or to a 7-11 or to the Fire station.  He would build things out of wood and help show me how to do that too.  And the day I chopped the tip of my finger with an ax he rushed me to the house and mom drove us to the ER.  He has done so much for me and sometimes I get so frustrated with how he is.  Then I look at my life and what I do with my son.  And I say, "You know what, you turned out to be a lot like Dad.  A little bit different in my own way, but a lot like Dad."  I am proud to say that I treat my family just like my Dad treated his family.  Now I have to accept Dad where he is at.  Remember the good times we had.  Cherish the moments we have now.  And try to do for my son, what my dad did for me.  Live a life worth living and enjoy my family.  Because that is what my dad did.

So I am going to live my life, enjoy my family and make the most of it.  That is all I can be expected to do.  I will be a living example for my son so he will grow up like me, who grow up like my dad.

I have to agree with the above quote.  I too am in charge of my attitude.  Of course sometimes I need someone to get my attitude turned around.  Thanks Sweetheart.  I Love You.

This video really spoke to my wife and she passed it on to me. In response it has also spoken to me and I want to pass it on to everyone. It really speaks to life and purpose with GOD. Take as you want, but I will say this. I want to allow GOD control of my life.

Travels and Journeys

Hello,

Welcome to my blog and to what I hope will be a new step in my life and my Journey through life. I am hoping to pursue my commitment to God and Jesus and to soon develop a better understanding of God's will for my life as well as His wisdom for and in my life. I will hopefully start to share that with you as I learn. I am hoping that this will inspire me to learn more, to write more, to develop myself more and to grow more.

As J.R.R. Tolkien said in one of his books; "It's a dangerous business going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."

So I expect that this trip will be anything but easy. I look forward to seeing where I maybe "swept off to." It may even be a bit dangerous at times. We will just have to see where it leads and what is learned. So feel free to assist, enlighten, comment, and discuss the meaning of life with Jesus and all that it encompasses. I do not expect everyone to agree, but I think we can agree to disagree. I just ask that you be civil. This is not meant to offend, but to offer other views and allow other points of views to be expressed.

So....without further ado, welcome to the beginning. Look out world, I am chasing after understanding in Jesus and the Bible and the true "meaning of life, the universe and everything"!
